JHU SAIS to Host Forum on Afghan War Tactics

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a forum, "The Afghan Battlefield: Forces and Tactics" on Wednesday, 10/17 at 5 p.m.

The event is hosted by the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at SAIS.

Ali Jalali, currently head of the Farsi service for Voice of America and author of two books on Soviet and Afghan war tactics, will be the featured speaker. Jalali previously served as an officer in the Royal Afghan army and later joined the Mujhidin after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

The event, open to the public and the media, will be held in the auditorium located on the first floor of the school's Rome Building, 1619 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Members of the public should RSVP to 202.663.7721 or caci2@mail.jhuwash.jhu.edu.
