SAIS Europe Financial Aid

Attending graduate school is a serious commitment of time and money, yet one of the most valuable investments you can make towards your future. Johns Hopkins SAIS believes that all students, from all backgrounds, should have access to the opportunities, resources, and intellectual community where groundbreaking ideas are created. While we encourage students to explore a variety of sources to fund their education (including external sources listed below), students enrolling in SAIS Europe programs can apply for scholarships and other funding, regardless of citizenship.

Bologna city view
SAIS Europe allocates part of its annual budget to student financial aid, and also administers special grants and scholarships sponsored by donor institutions. Those grants and scholarships provide up to $1.5M awarded annually in partial tuition grants to SAIS Europe students who demonstrate strong academic merit and financial need. More than half of the entering SAIS Europe class receives funding annually, ranging from $5,900 to a limited number of full tuition scholarships.

Applicants who wish to be considered for either financial aid or any of the special scholarships administered by SAIS Europe must note this on their application and submit the following documents to SAIS Europe by February 15, 2025

  • a complete Application for Admission by January 7, 2025
  • a complete Application for Financial Aid, signed by the applicant's parents, by February 15, 2025
  • proof of parents’ income (tax declaration or other official proof)

Some donor institutions also require that candidates submit a scholarship application directly to them. See instructions below.

Dual nationals and non-US students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance during their first semester at SAIS Europe will likely receive support for their second year of study, ranging from small scholarships to a limited number of full-tuition packages.

External Scholarships

Since SAIS Europe funds are limited, all candidates in need of financial assistance are encouraged to seek alternative sources of financial aid independently.

The following lists provide examples only of channels through which financial aid might be accessible. This is not a comprehensive list — we encourage you to perform your own research on funding sources.

The granting organizations listed here are not affiliated with Johns Hopkins SAIS. We do not track these opportunities, so information on this list may change at any time. It is your responsibility to approach these organizations directly to determine your eligibility, confirm scholarship details, and apply to them.
